What Your Insurance Covers for Water Damage
Understanding your coverage before a water event saves confusion and delays when you need help most.
What is typically covered: Standard homeowner’s insurance covers sudden and accidental water damage — burst pipes, appliance failures, storm damage that enters through a breach the storm created (like a roof puncture from a fallen tree). Your policy should cover water extraction, structural drying, damaged materials, and contents affected by the event.
What is typically not covered: Gradual leaks from deferred maintenance, flooding from outside the home (rising water requires a separate NFIP flood policy), and sewer backup (which requires a sewer backup endorsement). If you’re unsure what your policy covers, call TruRenu — we can help you interpret your policy and document the claim correctly.
How TruRenu helps: We work directly with State Farm, Allstate, USAA, Farmers, Liberty Mutual, Travelers, and all major carriers. We provide the documentation your adjuster needs — moisture readings, drying logs, photo evidence, and detailed scope of work — so your claim is processed accurately and efficiently.
